Breast edema

Lymphedema is defined as the process of the skin thickening caused by an abnormal accumulation of lymphatic fluid.

Lymphedema consists of blockages in the lymphatic system, which cease to function due to excess lymph (fluid that helps fight infections and diseases) in the lymph vessels. This accumulation of protein in the tissues causes an excess of fluids that manifest themselves in the form of chronic swelling in one or several parts of the body, causing a feeling of heaviness and a decrease in the patient’s mobility and quality of life.
